Media Types - How We Work
We are a small friendly team offering a highly personalised recruitment service for the media sector. We are recruitment consultants, not simply agents, and as such seek to offer each of our clients a full consultancy service, not simply a CV forwarding operation. You will be assigned a consultant at the start of each campaign and this person will be your contact throughout, ensuring continuity and eliminating confusion.
Media Types offers three recruitment strategy options, depending on your needs and the urgency with which you require your vacancy to be filled.
3. Search
Our most frequently used recruitment service. We take a complete job brief from you and use our internal database, network of contacts and carefully selected advertising channels to find you the right candidate. If we don't find one, you don't pay.
The Brief
We recognise that we will be the public face of your recruitment campaign and it is therefore essential that we accurately represent both your company and your vacancy. We will take a detailed vacancy brief at a face-to-face meeting, or on the telephone, ensuring that we are positioned to promote you effectively and attract the right candidates. We aim to meet all of our clients in their workplace at the start of our relationship in order to gain an appreciation of your company culture and workplace; not always easily obtained via a job description and telephone call alone.
Candidate Search
Each campaign starts with a thorough search of our internal candidate database. This holds thousands of candidates with extensive skills across all areas of media and is regularly updated. We also use this database to send out highly targeted job alerts to the most suitable candidates. In many cases, we are able to source suitable candidates via this resource, in conjunction with our own advertising on this site. If no suitable candidate is found, however, we will advertise your vacancy via the national and trade press and on targeted Internet job boards at no extra cost to you.
Candidate Selection
Once a suitable candidate has been sourced, we telephone screen them to find out more about their reasons for wanting a new position, their salary requirements and career aspirations and invite them to submit further details via our registration process, which comprises an online questionnaire. If we are then satisfied that they meet all your requirements on paper, we invite them for a face-to-face interview. Here, we probe their CV further, testing for the competencies and skills that you require and looking for the all-important soft skills and qualities that are impossible to glean from a CV alone. If we are then satisfied that the candidate fits your brief, we submit their CV to you, together with detailed profile/interview notes. In cases where a face-to-face interview has not been possible because of client or candidate time constraints, we will always inform you and will ensure that the pre-screening has nevertheless been as thorough as possible. Client Interviews & Placements We normally undertake to deliver 3-5 highly targeted CVs per vacancy, from which the client is welcome to further shortlist. You let us know whom you want to see, when you want to see them and we do all the rest, including briefing the candidate fully on both the position and the interview format and ensuring they have all supporting materials or assignment details before the interview. We then liaise with you throughout each stage of the interview process, inviting your feedback on the candidates submitted and further honing the search criteria as your thinking about the role develops. When a candidate is successfully placed, we will undertake all communications regarding the offer, mediate on any salary negations and chase references if this is required.
In certain cases when the client has a multiple need or wishes to attract candidates from competitive companies whilst maintaining confidentiality, we can offer a selection process. This is a retained consultancy service. We will take complete and detailed job brief from you and then design and deliver a targeted advertising campaign on your behalf using our media buying expertise and contacts, either dually or singly branded depending on your requirements. The process of candidate selection and interview remains the same as for the contingency recruitment option
3. Search
In some instances, a client will have a specific and clear requirement for a certain role. In these cases we can offer the most targeted recruitment strategy of all - search. Using a network of contacts developed over a number of years and tried and tested research methods, we are able to identify, profile and approach candidates that directly fit your job specification, usually because they are employed in a similar role by a competitor. It is important to note, however, that as we are bound by the code of conduct of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, we are not able to approach candidates from companies with whom we already work as clients. Search is a retained recruitment service.
