European SEO Strategist

The European SEO Strategist is a transversal role working closely with the product delivery, engineering and marketing teams to devise SEO strategies and prioritise product developments that are designed to increase the search engine visibility of all European sites. As well as working directly with all inhouse properties the role will also involve working to communicate SEO best practice principles to all of our white label, syndication and affiliate partners and to ensure that these principles are integrated into the appropriate platforms, apis and feeds. Finally, with the worlds of SEM and SEO edging ever close together the SEO Strategist will also be working closely with the EU SEM team to look for areas where synergies can be exploited and workloads shared. Performance Objectives The European SEO Strategist has the overall objective of increasing the total number of page views delivered via, and revenue generated by search to all European websites. The successful candidate will also be expected to exceed in the following performance objectives: 1. On process: a. Fostering greater integration and knowledge sharing between the SEO, SEM and marketing teams. b. Balancing the technical requirements of user engagement, accessibility and engineering with those of SEO. c. Integrating SEO best practice principles into all appropriate platforms, development processes and documentation. 2. On Accountability: a. Predicting and modelling the expected results and impacts of SEO strategy on search rankings, traffic and revenue using verifiable data. b. Ensuring that the outcome of any strategy items are assessed post launch and findings communicated to key stake holders. 3. On Communications: a. Ensuring that all key stakeholders are kept informed of the current search marketplace, SEO strategy, performance and the status of projects / team developments. b. Ensuring greater SEO buy-in by communicating the reasons behind, and logic used to inform specific SEO strategy items. c. Ensuring that the potential impacts of SEO actions on other areas of the business are fully documented, communicated and accounted for. Skills and Experience Requirements We are looking for a high-caliber individual with excellent communication skills who has all of the requisite knowledge and experience that will prove critical to making this role a success. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of search and will have a proven track record of SEO success stories that can be used to inform future SEO strategy. Ideally the candidate will have experience working within the e-commerce sector and ideally in a European role. They will be able to leverage their existing knowledge of the marketplace to develop strategy and product roadmaps quickly. They will have a strong appreciation of the importance of data and analytics and will be adept at using both to help inform strategy decisions, assess opportunities and evaluate performance relative to competitors and the search landscape as a whole. They will also be someone who strives to stay one step ahead of the competition and enjoys investing time and energy to stay up-to-date with the search marketplace, competition and industry trends. Qualifications: Academic qualification to BS/BA level or higher is preferred. French as a second language would be beneficial though is not critical. Experience, Specialist Knowledge & Skills: A minimum of 2 years SEO/SEM experience is essential. This experience should have been gained working within either a top tier agency or as an in-house SEO and ideally it will have been gained work within the European ecommerce sector. A thorough understanding of webanalytics / online tracking is expected, with particular knowledge of how these disciplines interact and impact SEO / SEM performance. The right candidate will be adept at analyzing large pools of data and drawing meaningful conclusions. Strong skills in the areas of written and verbal communication, prioritisation, multitasking and influencing others are also critical to the success of the role.
